Second Worst Snow Storm In Philadelphia History Couldnt Stop The Strychnine Babies

We managed to make the show happen with the help of Live Not On Evil together sharing what equipment we could get to The Khyber to play on. DTO's gear was snowed in couldn't get down their practice spot street so they ended up canceling. 350 plus were expected without the snow but with over 2 feet of snow on the ground and a state of emergency 50-70 locals trudged thru the snow last minutes notice that the show was happening. Brings back my faith in Philly. Heres some pics from Adam Wallacavage Feb 6 2010 potentially snowed out reunion show.

The Strychnine Babies first EP from 1997 Re-Released

Six Songs for Self Destruction 'Re-Mastered'

July 4th 1997 sweltering in a steam bath of humid, polluted, hazy, summer air seeping into their lungs the wretched death of rotting crabs in the bowels of South Philadelphia. Armed with trash bags full of beer and quarter sticks of dynamite the heathen set Christian Martucci, Eric Dead, and Dave Glass approach the Opera house in the shadow of the ominous towering projects next door in related harmony, chaos within its own walls. The Strychnine Babies onslaught epic recording their first EP Six Songs For Self Destruction, true to its name and credence, is underway in this single afternoon. This is taking place only a few months after the bands original Philadelphia line up formed.
Dining on decadence of malt liquor and cheese steaks its all over in a matter of hours. Time to celebrate out of the studio swaggering down the road to oblivion lighting up quarter sticks of dynamite throwing them over their shoulders blowing up in the street. Explosions ricochet echoing off the buildings and overpass above their heads, a sickening emense wall of noise, a testament to what is to come...

Produced by Shaun Marcoon and The Strychnine Babies. Engineered by Shaun Marcoon at Opera House Studios July 4th 1997 ADAT. Illustration and Design 1997 Dave Glass. Photography Sean Flanagan, Justin Moulder, Beth Blayszek. Remastered 2009 by Eric Bowr at Electric Nerve

The Ghetto Years 96-99

First things first, we just want thank everybody who bought New Religion records or downloads. You are the people who make everything we do possible, and we strongly appreciate it. If you did not get a chance to pick up the EP and would like one you can do so by clicking the link below. Keep in mind if you want the record you better act fast. We only got 500 pressed in this color, and people are buying them. You will never see these again. The next pressing will probably be blue.

Moving on, this week we finally were able to track down Rude-a owner of American Punk Records from back in the 90s. This was a label we were on that recorded a hand full of stuff that never got released. If all goes well we should be getting our hands on 5 songs that were recorded right in the middle of all the chaos back then. Two of which we haven’t even heard. These songs will be included on a 12 song compilation of all our old stuff. Also featured on this will be a re-mastered version of our previously out of print debut “Six Songs For Self Destruction” that was originally released in 1997. We’re very excited about this, and will definitely keep you posted.

Last but not least, we would like to encourage anybody with a Facebook account to use the link below to stop by our page and become a fan. It’s a fairly new page and we’re really trying to build it up. Not to mention, there’s a lot of cool features on there like iLike, My Band, etc that allow you to stream music including all the songs from our new EP. Also, with the way everything has been going with the social networking sites, who knows what’s going to happen in the future. It would suck if we lost contact with everybody who gives a shit. Of course if you prefer Twitter, we have one of those too.

That being said, thanks for all of your support and we will be in touch in the near future.
